• Unruly Passenger On United Flight Prompts Emergency Landing At Dulles (patch.com) — Air travelers in the Washington region saw an unexpected diversion Thursday night when a United Airlines flight from Newark to Guatemala made an emergency landing at Washington Dulles International Airport. Officials say the crew reported a passenger trying to open a door at cruising altitude and allegedly attacking another passenger, prompting federal law enforcement to meet the plane after its safe arrival.
   

• HHS rule bars green card holders who visited Ebola zones from entering US (khq.com) — From Washington, federal health officials have issued a new HHS rule temporarily blocking green card holders who recently visited Ebola-affected areas in Congo, Uganda, or South Sudan from entering the U.S. The CDC gets limited-time discretion to restrict entry when outbreaks surge, a move that could affect DC residents with family ties or travel plans in those regions.
   

• Slick Champion Aerospace 4300 Series Magneto Impulse Coupler Failures (justhelicopters.com) — A Washington-based FAA Flight Standards office is warning about failures in certain Slick (Champion Aerospace) 4300 series magneto impulse couplers that could lead to engine damage or failure. The office is pushing to expand an existing airworthiness directive to cover more four-cylinder engines and urges mechanics to inspect for loose rivets or pins every 100 hours and report any defects.
